Julius T. Vittek

Julius Thomas Vittek, beloved husband, father and grandfather, found peace in the Kingdom of God January 4, 2012. He was born December 21, 1929 in the tiny Texas town of Rice’s Crossing and graduated from Hutto High School before embarking on a twenty-six year career in the United States Air Force. Julius served his country proudly and attained the highest NCO rank possible of Chief Master Sargeant. In 1975, after retiring from the military, he joined the Applied Research Laboratories of the University of Texas at Austin, where he was still actively employed. Despite the difficulties of his medical conditions, he rarely missed work and was a well-loved member of the ARL family.

A dedicated, responsible, devoted family man, Julius is survived by wife Anna Vittek, of nearly 54 years. Also, he is survived by his children Monica Vittek and Mark Vittek (Rosie Cantu) and grandchildren Sean, Kyle and Luke Leamons. He was preceded in death by his large family of four brothers and three sisters. He and his wife are members of St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Austin.
He had a special love of ham radio, trains, videography and all things electronic. There was nothing broken in the world that he could not fix. If somehow he could have reached his defective heart valve, we are sure he could have repaired it himself.

Julius’ cheerfulness, humor and refusal to complain made him a favorite of his doctors and nurses. The family would like to extend our special thanks to all of his health team Dr. Frank Robinson, Dr. Juhana Karha, his assistants Christina, Dalyn, and Mary all of Austin, and Dr. Bruce Bowers of Medical City, Dallas.
Julius was a simple and practical man and had requested that family and friends not send flowers. However, please feel free to make a donation to a charity of choice or the American Heart Association.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 6pm to 8pm with Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home of Taylor, TX. Mass will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, TX; burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
