Ed (Billy Joe) Carlson went to his heavenly home on Friday October 28, 2011. He was born on April 20, 1929 in Thrall, Texas to Edward and Agnes (Johnson) Carlson. He graduated from Granger High School. He was an active member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, Texas where he served on the church council for many years. He served on the Thrall School Board for 21 years and served as President for 19 years. He was a farmer and rancher in Williamson County for 65 years and earned Master Farmer Honors. He served on the Williamson County Farm Service Agency Board. In 1972 his son Billy joined him in the farming business and they formed Agri-businesses named Carlson Seed and Chemical and Carlson Grain. His daughter Debbie joined the business in 1980. Ed was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ed leaves behind his loving wife of 61 years, Doris, his son David and his wife Diane, his son Billy and his wife Connie, his daughter Debbie Ging and her husband Steve, his daughter Donna Blomquist and her husband Greg. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Travis Carlson and his wife Nikki, Ashley McAllister and her husband Jacob, Bethany McSorley and her husband Patrick, LeAnn Gola and her husband Matt, Kristen Ging, Kasey Farr and her husband Alan, Kellen Blomquist and Chelsea Blomquist. He was also blessed with eight great-grand children, Philip and Sean McSorley, Lexi Urbis and Maverick McAllister, Maddie Flores and Raeghan Carlson, Nathan Farr, and Hadley Gola. He is also survived by sisters Janie Reed, and Betty Polasek and her husband Daniel. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles, sisters Marie Schier and Virginia Bounds, and granddaughter Brennan Carlson.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the many friends and family that kept Ed’s spirits up and kept him in their prayers.
Visitation is set for Sunday, October 30 from 6 to 8:00 PM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on October 31 at Providence Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Bielfeldt officiating and burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, Texas.
