Harry Leroy Moerbe entered through the pearly gates and is now sitting as a joint heir to the kingdom of Heaven. He passed from his earthly life on Sunday, October 23, 2011.
Harry was born and raised in Thorndale, TX.
At the age of 18 years old, he joined the Southwestern Bell family, working all over South Texas for many years before moving back to the Taylor area.
He served as a mash cook during his time in the Korean War. While serving his country, he became pen pals with a young woman in White Lake, WI named Betty Popelka. After the war, he returned home and took a trip to Wisconsin to meet Betty. Harry and Betty were married September 3, 1955 in a double wedding with her sister Ruth and Tom Summers.
Harry remained with Southwestern Bell for over 39 years until retiring in 1989.
Harry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 56 years; a daughter Hope Marx and husband Ronald of Granger; a son Wayne Moerbe and wife Boni of Granger; three grandsons Philip Moerbe, David and Michael Marx.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, October 27, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, TX.
