Margaret Hajda

Margaret (Margie) Hajda, 87, of Granger, TX, died Monday, October 3, 2011. She was born August 27, 1924 to Joseph and Agnes Kurtin.

Margie is survived by her husband V. J. Hajda; sons Wesley Hajda, Jr. and wife Henrietta, and Mike Hajda and wife Sally; daughters Theresa Hajda and friend Jerry David, and Anne Shirocky and husband Alan. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: David Hajda and wife Deborah, Julia Hajda and fiancée Tyler Klotz, Michael Hajda, Jr., Sarah Hajda, Matthew Hajda and wife Kody, Alana Tomczyszyn and husband David, and Andrea Shirocky; and 7 great-grandsons: Colby Hajda, Callen Hajda, Caige Hajda, Cash Hajda, Colt Hajda, Zyton Hajda and Maizen Hajda. Margie is survived by her brothers John Kurtin and Frank Kurtin; and sisters Edith Kurtin, Babs Kurtin and Mary Walker.

Margie is predeceased by her parents; brothers Joe Kurtin, Lad Kurtin and Tony Kurtin, sister Frances Kurtin; and granddaughter Deborah Rose Hajda.

She was a member of St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church (SSCM) in Granger, KJZT, KJT, SPJST and Mother’s Club of SSCM.

Most important to Margie was her love of God and family and being side by side with her loving husband of 65 years. She also loved dancing to Czech music, playing tarocks and bingo, collecting and displaying all cards and letters from loved ones, watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their activities. She also loved growing flowers, living in the country, being outside and on her swing and rocker, as well as reading, embroidering, crocheting, cooking, baking and shopping.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor, TX. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Mass will be 1:30 P.M., Friday, October 7, 2011 at St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, TX.

Memorials may be made to St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church or School.

Pallbears will be David Hajda, Michael Hajda, Jr., Mathew Hajda, David Tomczyszyn, James Cervenka, Duane Kurtin, Louis Repa and Jimmy Walker.
