Lavona Appel

Lavona Marie Bargfrede Appel was born to Henry F. and Mary C. Bargfrede on October 18, 1925 in Alma, Missouri.
Lavona married Rev. Vernon M. Appel in 1950 and has lived in Thorndale since 1959. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she taught school for 33 years.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, parents, and 4 siblings. She is survived by her sons Paul and wife Sharon of Rowlett, TX., Philip and wife Kim of Helotes, TX and daughter Becky and husband Joey Merkord of Maryville, TN; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, brother Walt and wife Elaine of Alma, MO. and sister Ruth and husband Robert of Springfield, MO. and several nieces and nephews and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 4-6 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with burial following at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran School, The Lutheran Hour, Lutheran Social Services of The South, or charity of your choice.
