Ellissa (Lisa) L. Pope

Ellissa (Lisa) Lynn Cockrell Pope, 67, passed away August 26, 2011 at her home in Granger, TX. She was born September 11, 1943 to Louis R. and Robbie Mae Cockrell.

Her husband, Grover Cleveland Pope, III (Lil’ Buck), preceded her in death in 2004.

“Lisa” as she was called by many, had been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Having been employed by several area banks, she also served as the Granger rural letter carrier 23 years before taking a disability retirement after two strokes and complications of diabetes kept her homebound. Lisa served on the Granger ISD Board of Trustees, Williamson County 4-H Adult Leaders, Granger Community Boosters and Granger Athletic Boosters, Granger S.P.J.S.T. Lodge 20 and was a member of the Granger Methodist Church.

She is survived by daughters Malynn (Molly) Shiller and husband Randy of Georgetown, and Lee Ann Bagby of Austin; son Grover C. Pope, IV (Bubba) of Granger; sister-in-law Nancy Walker and husband H.D. of Austin; sister Lou Ann Schornick and husband Joe of Pearland; brother Dr. Steven Cockrell and wife Sandy of Hannibal, MO; step-mom Arlene Cockrell of Pearland; 3 grandchildren Randa Shiller, Jade and Skyler Bagby; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Burial to follow at the Macedonia Cemetery in Granger, TX.
