Rhuey A. Cluck

July 13, 1918 — August 4, 2011

Rhuey Aletha Bingham Cluck, 93, of Hutto, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 4, 2011 at Scott & White Hospital. She had enjoyed such excellent health that it was only the 2nd time she had been hospitalized since giving birth to her only child. Her heart just seemed to be tired and ready to rest. Rhuey was adopted by Joe and Ruby Bingham of Hico, Texas on July 13, 1918. She graduated Valedictorian of Hico High School in 1935. She graduated from Baylor University in 1938 with a BA of Education. While attending Baylor, she met the love of her life, Sam Cluck of Osage, Texas. Sam was a Minister of Music for a Baptist Church and Rhuey was his pianist. Sam started his career as a Baptist Pastor and Rhuey become a dedicated Pastor’s wife. Their partnership lasted for 35 years, until Sam’s death in 1974. They remained in Central Texas—Hewitt, Lorena, Waco and Hubbard—doing God’s work. Rhuey taught school for 45 years in Lorena, Waco LaVega and Bartlett. She continued substituting until 2004.

Rhuey is survived by her daughter, Jeannie and her son-in-law, Bobby Hill of Hutto. She adored her three grandchildren, Jennifer Aletha Hill Patschke (Brian) of Taylor, Jeffrey Hill of Pflugerville, and Bradley Samuel Hill (Kathy) of Hutto. Memommy’s or Mimi’s, as she was affectionately called, life was further enriched upon the births of her 8 great-grandchildren, Shelby Hill of Hutto, Allyson Powell, Reed Powell of Taylor, Shay Hill, Zoe Hill, Colter Hill, Sam Hill all of Hutto and Caleb Patschke of Taylor. She loved each of them dearly.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:30 P.M. Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 3:00 P.M., Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Dr. Matthew Hudson will be officiating. Music will be provided by the Jim Fischer Family of Holland, nephews and nieces of Jeannie and Bobby Hill. Burial will be beside her beloved partner, Sam, at the family plot in the Bartlett City Cemetery in Bartlett.
