Lillie Sophia Walther

July 28, 1913 — June 25, 2011

Lillie Sofia Walther, of Taylor went to be with her Savior on Saturday, June 25th, 2011 at SPJST Living Center in Taylor. She was 97 years 11 months old.
Lillie Muegge Bammel Walther, was given life by her creator and was born July 28th, 1913, the daughter of Willie Fritz and Louise (Fisher) Muegge. She was a lifelong resident of the Taylor area. She was a loving and caring housewife.
In her youth Lillie was a member of the New Bern Lutheran Church (now disbanded) then became a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Taylor. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church.
She married Alfred (Button) Bammel who preceded her in death as did her second husband Albert Walther. Though Lillie never had children of her own, she filled her life with her many nieces and nephews. Her door was always open to family. She enjoyed people and being around people. Even until the time of her death, she had a way of making people laugh and feel good that they were around her. She cared first for her mother and father and later her brother Lonnie. She was a very giving person.
Her Saturdays were filled with her second-hand sale business she ran out of her garage. Several other ladies would come and spend the day visiting and selling merchandise. The people of the community knew her as Miss Lillie.
Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred Bammel, husband Albert Walther, four brothers and their spouses, Lonnie, Arbie and wife Elenor, Harold and wife Arline, Leroy and wife Mary Ann. Survivors include, nieces and nephews, Barbara and husband Marvin Machu of Thorndale, Jody and husband Bennie Cervenka of Taylor, Sharon Morgan of Taylor, William Muegge of Taylor, Jeff Muegge of Thorndale, Royce (Butch) Muegge of Katy, Arbie (Skip) Muegge of Conway, Arkansas, Paula and husband Larry Jureski, Angela and husband Rudy Garcia, Annette and husband Tommy Mason, all of LaPorte, Texas. She is also survived by nurmerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. - 12 Noon at Providence Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home with burial following at Taylor City Cemetery.
