Marilyn L. Gentry

Marilyn L. Gentry was born October 23, 1944 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to Lois M. Smith (Davis) and Paul J. Smith. She graduated in 1965 from Bangor High School in Bangor Michigan and married her H.S. Sweetheart, Kenneth Dale Gentry on June 20, 1965. As a young wife and mother in 1968, she relocated to Naples, Florida and then in 1997 to stay near her children and grandchildren, she moved to Pflugerville, Texas and later to Taylor, Texas. She worked in the retail industry most of her adult life concluding with more than 23 years with Walmart Corp., before retirement in October of 2009. She lived her life as a good Christian woman and went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2011, following a 10 month battle with COPD and Lymphoma. Preceding her in death are her mother Lois M. Thomsen, her father Paul J. Smith, her step-father Wilbert Thomsen, three brothers Carl Smith, Fred Smith and Tom Smith, and her son Mark W. Harris. She is survived by one brother, Charles W. Thomsen and a dear friend Joyce McCollum of Naples, FL; her daughters, Anna M. Spears of Taylor, TX, Cheryl L. Zellmer (Hans) of Gobles, MI, Rebecca S. Mallory (Rick) of Austin, TX, Constance E. Rosener (Randy) of Phillipsburg, OH; her son Chuck Thomsen of Joliet, IL; her grandchildren Melissa, Justin, Laura, Ricky, Dalice, Keara, Dyson, Sammantha, Zachary, Ronald, Natasha, Mary, Sara, Ryan, Mackenzie and Destiny; her great grandchildren Autumn, Rylee, Peyten and Kyler, and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and great friends. Family visitation will be on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8th from 6-8pm and funeral services on Monday, May 9th at 1:30pm, both to be held at her church, New Life United Pentescostal at 5600 Main St., Taylor, TX 76574 with Pastor Roy Hutton officiating. Arrangements by Providence Funeral Home of Taylor. Donations may be made in lieu of flowers to her church.
