Adella Knapek

December 16, 1939 — April 30, 2011

Adella “Della Mae” Havelka Knapek of Thrall passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born December 16, 1939 to parents Toni Straka Havelka and Henry Havelka. She has 2 sisters and 1 brother. She married Frank Raymond Knapek on June 6, 1959 at SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. They were blessed to have 51 years together.

Adella grew up in Swertner, TX and later moved to Granger where she graduated from Granger High School.

She had a love of Crafts and quilting and also enjoyed her ceramics.

She worked at decorating cakes for over 25 years winning numerous awards for her beautiful wedding cakes.

Adella is survived by sons, Daniel Knapek and wife Michelle of Leander and Jonathan Knapek and fiancé Laure Herr and her boys Andy, Daniel, and Jack; brother, Lambert Havelka and wife Sue; sister, Lillie Vanek and husband Edward; sister, Toni Knapek; numerous nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren, Katherine, Jeffrey, Joseph, and Ashley of Plugerville, Brendon Knapek and girlfriend Rene of Georgetown, Cole Knapek of Austin, Briana Knapek of San Marcos, Cassandra and Daniel Knapek of Leander.

She was preceded in death by husband Frank Knapek; parents, Toni and Henry Havelka; and brother-in-law Johnny Knapek.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday, May 2, 2011 and Rosary will be 7:00 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Granger.

Pallbearers will be Brendon Knapek, Raymond Knapek, Anthony Knapek, James Havelka, Justin Havelka and Chris Vanek.

Adella will be remembered for her beautiful cakes, her restoration of many church statues and her love of working at her property in Shiloh. She was very strong in her faith and devoted many hours to serving in her church.
