Martin Mathey

d. March 17, 2011

Our beloved Martin “Marty” Karl Mathey was called home by our Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 17, 2011. Marty was born on January 22, 1950 to Leo & Lydia (Loresch) Mathey in Sturgeon Bay, WI.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1974. Marty was married to Mary Ellen Nelson in Caledonia, MN. on October 23, 1976. After two tours in Vietnam, Marty was on the road as a truck driver for over 30 years.

Marty loved driving his big rigs, riding his motorcycle, listening to classic rock and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed camping with his wife Mary, son Shane and his wife Lorrie, and the two lights of his life, his grandsons Cole and Justin.

After his grandsons blessed his life, Marty decided to shorten the time on the road to have more time with his family.

Marty is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (Nelson) Mathey; son Shane and wife Lorrie; two grandsons, Cole Martin and Justin Wayne; two sisters Barbara Ihlenfeldt and Sandra Bryant; and several nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held 6-78 P.M. Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Taylor Brethren Church with Rev. James Hejl officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Taylor Brethren Church or to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV Memorial Program, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH. 45250-0301 or call 1-877-426-2838 ext. 3302.

A special thanks to our Lord for the strength and guidance, to Hospice for helping our family through these times, and to all our family and friends during this difficult time.
