Bessie Lee Sefcik, 96, passed away March 15, 2011. She was born February 28, 1915 to Commodore and Susie Perry, the youngest of six children, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Bessie was born and raised in Thorndale, Texas in the Salty Community and attended school there. She married Frank Sefcik, a local farmer and they had two children, Kenneth and Gene.
Bessie loved to garden, help with the farm animals, deliver pears from her giant pear tree and visit with people. She was always full of energy and was well known for her outgoing personality. Bessie could spend hours of daily time talking on the phone. She drove her car up until she was 90 years old and when someone got behind her they had to slow down to a snail’s pace. She took care of herself until she went to SPJST.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sefcik; son Kenneth Sefcik, brothers Bill Perry, George Perry and Rufus Perry; sisters Ivy Dawson, Annie Perry and Myrtle Perry; and grandson Jason Sefcik.
Bessie is survived by her son Gene Sefcik and wife Dellois of Taylor, Texas; four grandchildren Tammi Kaspar of Taylor, Texas, Monica Kunkel of Coppell, Texas, Lori Crowder of Hewitt, Texas, and David Sefcik of Taylor, Texas; nine great grandchildren Luke Kaspar, John David Kaspar, Savannah Kaspar, Katie Kunkel, Emily Kunkel, Elizabeth Crowder, Lincoln Crowder, Jill Sefcik and Taylor Sefcik. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2 PM Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Taylor City Cemetery.
