Alvin (Al) Carl Patschke, Jr., was born February 16, 1950 and passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the age of 61. He was a member of Christ Fellowship Church.
Al was a 1968 Thrall graduate and later served in the U. S. Air Force where he was stationed in Wichita, Kansas and Indian Mountain, Alaska. He married Barbara Pokorny on June 13, 1970. Al has worked in the plumbing field for over 40 years in the Austin area, serving as the Plumber/Boiler Department Manager for YPS Services. Al loved to spend his free time enjoying his family, working with his cattle and yielding an abundant supply of vegetables that he loved sharing with others.
Al is survived by his wife Barbara of 41 years, a son Keith and wife HeatherBlü Patschke of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and a daughter Shelby Patschke of Taylor. Al was the proud Grandpa of Freedom, Roxy and Colt Patschke of Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Al is also survived by sisters Jeanette Dube and husband David of McDade, and Joyce Rogers and husband Larry of Lampasas. He is survived by two brothers, Steven Patschke and wife Paulette of Taylor, and Reuben Patschke and wife Diana of Hutto as well as many nephews and nieces. In addition, Al is survived by his mother-in-law Edna Tonn of Taylor and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harry and Barbara Pokorny of Austin. He is also survived by his beloved dog Lucy who worshipped the ground he walked on.
Al was preceded in death by his parents Alvin Sr. and Margaret Patschke and father-in-law Louis Pokorny.
Al’s family would like to extend their gratitude for all the loving phone calls, visits and prayers, as well as all the delicious food shared during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations may be made to the Christ Fellowship Building Fund, 1517 McLain Street, Taylor, TX 76574 or to a charity of one’s choice.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Taylor City Cemetery.
