Joe A. Davis
Our sweet Daddy went to his heavenly home on February 14, 2011. He was born on May 10, 1926 in Austin, Texas to Luther John Davis and Imogene Jones Davis. He spent most of his life in the eastern part of Travis County. He attended Austin High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II. On July 6, 1946 he married Elnora Sundbeck. He and Elnora had 3 daughters. Joe moved his family from Austin to Taylor, Texas in 1960. Joe was a butcher for more than fifty years. He commuted to work in Austin for several years. Eventually he went to work for O’Brien Meats in Taylor which is where he worked until March of 2010. In addition to being a butcher, he also did some farming and raised cattle. He was a member of the Masons and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed working in his yard and he was a hunter and avid fisherman. He took great pleasure in fishing along the gulf coast and watching his grandkids and great grandkids catch fish from his tank.
He is survived by Elnora Davis, three daughters, Carolyn Mohel and husband Dan of Taylor, Diann Bice of Taylor, and Laurie Mohel Levee and husband John of Round Rock. His grandchildren: James E. Bice, Jr. of Taylor, Troy Bice and wife Amanda of Thorndale, Dana Mohel Moehnke and husband Eric of Taylor, Derek Levee and wife Jennifer of Round Rock, Brett Levee and wife AJ of Hutto, Casey Bice of Bartlett, Blake Levee of Hutto and John T. Mohel and fiancée Amy Hughes of Aurora, Co. Great grandchildren: Blake Lankford, Catherine Bice, Troy (T.J.) Davis Bice, Jr., Justin Bice and Haylee Bice; Anoa Hines and Cayden Moehnke; Jessica Scott, Lauren Levee and Luke Levee; Camryn Levee; Ryan Pickett and Ryder Heath Bice; and Grayson Levee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luther John Davis and Imogene Jones Davis; an infant son, John Darrell Davis; brother John R. Davis; grandson, Heath Alan Bice; and son-in-law James E. Bice, Sr.
He was affectionately called "Joe" by his grandchildren will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home with Matt Hudson officiating.
