Darvin J. Kaderka
With his family by his side, Darvin Kaderka, 67 of Taylor peacefully died Monday, January 24, 2011 at The Lighthouse Hospice at Altenheim in Round Rock, TX after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Darvin was born in Taylor, Texas on April 11, 1943 to Martha Vitek Kaderka and Emil Kaderka. He grew up and attended school in Granger, TX. On June 23, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart Linda Cmerek. He is survived by his wife Linda; sons Darrell Kaderka and wife Sharon of Cypress, Kelly Kaderka and wife Lela of Taylor; and mother Martha Kaderka Zrubek of Granger. Nothing was more important to him than being "Po" to his granddaughters Madison and Camryn Kaderka of Cypress, TX, step-granddaughter Roxie Carpenter and husband Eric of Taylor and step-great granddaughter Kaitlyn Johnson of Taylor. Surviving are his brothers Richard Kaderka and wife Betty of Rosenberg, TX, Emil Kaderka and wife Julie of Taylor, and their families, sister-in-law Lannette Croughen and husband Andy, brother-in-law Larry Cmerek and wife Eileen, brother-in-law Lynn Cmerek and wife Janet all of Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Darvin is preceded in death by his father Emil Kaderka, stepfather Emil Zrubek, father-in-law and mother-in-law Lad and Agnes Cmerek, brother-in-law Laddie Joe Cmerek, and nephew Adrian Cmerek.
Darvin will be remembered as kind, hard working, and considerate. His acts of kindness were numerous and performed with his whole heart. His passion for life was infectious and he believed in keeping humor in the equation to make the bumps in life more bearable, especially during his illness. He had a great sense of humor and was always a pleasure to be with. Above all, Darvin was a faithful husband, devoted son, revered father, proud grandfather, dependable brother, and a good friend to all. We will all miss him deeply.
Darvin retired from Alcoa after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Taylor Knights of Columbus, the St. Mary’s Cemetery Committee, and a dedicated volunteer for the St. Vincent De Paul Store and St. Mary’s Cemetery. He loved creating things with his hands, hunting, fishing, barbequing, and just being outdoors.
Pallbearers are Lyle Cmerek, Shane Cmerek, James Svehlak, Robert Kaderka, Tim Kaderka, and Daniel Kaderka.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary and Annette Maruska, Dan and Carol Mohel, Sid and Joan Krhovjak, Daniel Kahanak and Kathy Beard, Jim and Barbara Walker, Calvin and Lillie Janak, Butch Keith and Nancy Bigon, Terry Hilbig and B. J. Machalicek, John and Kathy Huegele, Mazie Rosipal, Lillian Kaderka, and Judy Hobbs.
In celebration of Darvin’s life a visitation will be held Wednesday, January 26th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at Providence Funeral Home, Taylor TX. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday, January 27th at 2:00 PM with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Granger TX.
The family is requesting contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Cemetery, The Lighthouse Hospice at Altenheim in Round Rock or a cancer research organization of your choice.
