Joan Marie Mcnabb

Joan Marie Zimmerhanzel McNabb was called to be with her heavenly Father on January 9, 2011 at Scott & White Round Rock after a brief bout with cancer.

Joan was born in Taylor, Texas on October 13, 1949 to Joe and Elsie Zimmerhanzel.

Joan graduated from Taylor High School in 1967. She worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2004.

Joan married Richard McNabb May 4, 1984 in Indianapolis, Indiana. They enjoyed 27 years traveling the globe. They were very active in the Ben Hur Shriners. Joan was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, Ruh Neb Temple #69, Ben Hera Ladies Oriental Shrine Court #91 and the Red Hatters.

Joan enjoyed entertaining her friends and family.

She was married to Ernest Wayne Voigt who preceded her in death.

Joan is survived by her husband Richard of 27 years; her son Joey Voigt and wife Fay of Thrall; step-grandson Cody King; step-sons Robert McNabb and wife Faith, and Eric McNabb; her sister Dolores Eckles of North Carolina. Also surviving are aunts Beatrice Zimmerhanzel; JoeAnn Jackson and husband Claude; Edna Spears; Agnes Cook and husband Herbert; and Janelle Zimmerhanzel. Joan is survived by uncle Bill Zimmerhanzel and wife Sue, by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Charlotte Turner, Lois and Bobby Roberts; Larry Voigt, Gary Voigt; Faye Camp; Connie Lawrence; Vickie Summerville; Glenda Voigt; Betty Zimmerhanzel; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by parents Joe and Elsie Zimmerhanzel; brother Jimmy Zimmerhanzel; son Terry Voigt; and uncles Van, Charlie, James, Paul and Leslie Zimmerhanzel; aunts Angel Zimmerhanzel, Alma Zimmerhanzel and Emma Weise.

The family will receive friends and family from 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, January 12, 2011. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7:30 P.M. on January 12, 2011 at Providence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 2 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
